Cherie Gagnon

Cherie Gagnon has been the Accessibility Manager in Office of Human Rights, Equity and Accessibility since February 2020. Cherie has been involved in the disability community for nearly 25 years in many capacities from boards, to the nonprofit sector, to lived experience as a parent of adults with disabilities. In 2013, Cherie was appointed by Ontario’s Minister of Children and Youth to sit on an inter-ministerial reference group overseeing the implementation of new programs and policies. Cherie is a founding member of Microboards Ontario which supports people with disabilities to direct their own lives and is currently the Vice-President of Community Living Windsor. Cherie has worked with families, developed educational workshops, and supported people with mental health and addictions, along with isolated seniors. Before coming to the University, Cherie was also the local implementation lead for Health TAPESTRY, a research initiative led by McMaster University’s Department of Family Medicine. Cherie holds two undergraduate degrees from the University of Windsor and received a Master's in Disability and Community Studies from the Cummings School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Cherie is enjoying the opportunity to work at her alma mater to support an inclusive and accessible experience for students and employees.
