The Centre for Teaching and Learning provides individual consultations and group workshops regarding the use of the University’s learning management system, CLEW (Collaboration and Learning Environment Windsor) for those teaching at the University of Windsor. Faculty, sessional instructors, staff, and GAs/TAs are welcome to register for any of the CLEW workshops offered or a pre-scheduled, one-on-one personal consultations.
Some dates and times of workshops are subject to change based on user needs. Tailored workshops for departments or groups of colleagues are available upon request.
Self-help articles about CLEW tools, how to use them and frequently asked questions are accessible from the CLEW Help website - http://www.uwindsor.ca/clew
If you don’t see a workshop that addresses your learning needs; if you would like to book a Personal Consultation at a time other than those available here; of if you would like to have a sample CLEW site to practice in (Sandbox site), please send an email to clew@uwindsor.ca with your request and include your UWin ID.
Due to the high demand for certain workshops, priority will be given to those with active teaching assignments.Past offerings

Forums is a "group-friendly" tool for establishing conversations for your entire CLEW site or for members of a specific sub-section of your class. Forums allow replies to an original posting or a response to other participants' messages. If they wish to, instructors can then grade the responses and post into the Gradebook tool.
As sub-sections must be set up in advance in individual CLEW sites, you will also learn in this class how to establish sub-sections by using the Sections tool.

Quizzes, Feedback and Gradebook
Online quizzes can be made available to students using your CLEW site by setting up a quiz ahead of time (with assistance of the CLEW Administrative staff) and then using the Quizzes & Tests tool to administer. Multiple choice questions can be randomized using this tool, so even if students are seated beside each other, they won't get questions in the same order.
Feedback is a tool that enables instructors to upload grades or feedback using a .csv file format (maintained through a spreadsheet program such as MS Excel) so that students see only their own grade or feedback.
Gradebook is a tool that calculates, stores, and presents grades so that students see only their own grades or the feedback that you may wish to communicate to them.
After completing this workshop, you will be able to:
- prepare a file to upload to the CLEW Admin team for a quiz
- prepare a basic Gradebook course set-up and,
- prepare and upload a spreadsheet for display in the Feedback tool.

The Assignments tool offers multiple grading options, including letter grades, points, checkmarks, pass/fail, or ungraded. Assignments is also a Gradebook friendly tool.
