Maria Cioppa
Dr Maria Cioppa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and has just taken on the role of Forensic Programs Administrator in the Faculty of Science. Her research interests include paleomagnetism, environmental magnetism and most recently archaeological geophysics. She has taught courses ranging from Climate Change to Planetary Geology, from Scientific Writing and Data Management to Field Geophysics. In all of these courses, Dr Cioppa emphasizes the importance of hands-on experience and writing – preferably in coordination. She also has a strong focus on outreach and citizen science, and is the co-director of the multidisciplinary Canada150 project WEDigHistory.
