Deborah Dayus
Debbie recently retired from the Faculty of Nursing after 38 years of teaching. Debbie is a proud graduate of the University of Windsor completing undergraduate BScN and BA in Psychology degrees and a MSc (Nursing) degree. She also holds a PhD in Nursing. She was the first sessional instructor for Nursing back in September of 1982 when the faculty had less than 100 students. Now the faculty boasts over 1000 undergraduate students and 100+ sessionals. Debbie mentored and oversaw this very large teaching group in her role over the years as undergraduate coordinator and clinical learning specialist for the BScN degree. Even though now retired, she continues to work with graduate students and is teaching an informatics course through the department of continuing education. This informatics course was developed collaboratively by continuing education, nursing and computer science to meet the needs of our health care system as it embarks on digitizing communications and the delivery of our health care. She continues to work with a grant on administrating Building Blocks for Better Babies which is a community service for high-risk pregnant mothers. She is also the Chair of the VON Endowment Foundation. On days when she is not busy with board work or grandchildren, she enjoys watersports, golfing and curling!
