The International Forum on Teaching Evaluation
University of Windsor, Windsor, ON
May 2, 2017

Please join us for a day of dialogue, workshops, working sessions, and network building, focused on the nature and role of teaching evaluation – and the challenges of leading change in this area!

Forum participants will explore:

  • the principles of effective teaching evaluation;
  • contextual factors which impact engagement with teaching evaluation initiatives; and
  • strategies, roles, and decision-making points that can improve project sustainability.

There will be plenty of opportunity to apply these ideas to possible or current projects at your own institutions. Individuals or teams can develop a preliminary working plan for a new or revised teaching evaluation project.

Funded in part through a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Connections Grant, the event is a collaboration led by the University of Windsor, Oakland University (Rochester, MI), the University of Toronto, and McGill University. Sessions will be facilitated by leaders in the field with many years of experience in implementing teaching evaluation projects in areas such as:

  • online student ratings of instruction;
  • teaching evaluation frameworks;
  • data mediation, reporting and visualization;
  • qualitative approaches to evaluation;
  • peer review of teaching;
  • the interconnection between evaluation, inquiry, and teaching improvement; and
  • teaching evaluation’s role in promotion and tenure.

Those staying for all three days of the conference will have the option to join a cohort for regular meetings to reflect on and exchange information drawn from both Forum and Conference sessions.
