Anne Forrest
Anne Forrest joined the Odette School of Business in 1985 and transferred to Women’s and Gender Studies in 2007. She holds a PhD in Management and Labour Studies from the University of Warwick. Her research interests are labour relations, collective bargaining, and women and unions. She was the director of Women’s and Gender Studies for many years where she taught courses about race and sexuality. Anne has a long-standing interest in undergraduate curriculum design and development. As director of WGS, she led efforts to expand course offerings and helped design the innovative Combined BSW in Social Work and Women’s Studies. She is a founding member (with Dr. Charlene Senn) of the University’s Bystander Initiative and worked to bring the Walls to Bridges program to campus. Most recently, in her role assistant dean of FAHSS, she reorganized the Liberal Arts & Professional Studies program, which offers students who have been required to withdraw from another program a second chance to earn an undergraduate degree. For many years, Anne was chair of the faculty association’s grievance committee and president of the association from 2014-16. In 2019, she was won the Educational Leadership Award. Dr. Forrest retired from the University in June 2020.
