Chris Houser
Dr. Chris Houser is the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. He came to the University of Windsor in 2016 from Texas A&M University where he was the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, with a focus on increasing the number and diversity of high impact learning experiences for students. Concurrently, he was the Global Faculty Ambassador in the Office of the Provost, responsible for inspiring other faculty to develop internal research and teaching programs, with a focus on the use of a field station in the jungles of Costa Rica. In addition to his own research on the response and recovery of barrier islands to extreme storms, and the physical and social aspects of the rip current hazard, Dr. Houser has published studies on study abroad, undergraduate research experiences, implicit bias in reference letters, affective gains from fieldwork, and problem-based learning.
