The Centre for Teaching and Learning provides individual consultations and group workshops regarding the use of the University’s learning management system, CLEW (Collaboration and Learning Environment Windsor) for those teaching at the University of Windsor. Faculty, sessional instructors, staff, and GAs/TAs are welcome to register for any of the CLEW workshops offered or a pre-scheduled, one-on-one personal consultations.
Some dates and times of workshops are subject to change based on user needs. Tailored workshops for departments or groups of colleagues are available upon request.
Self-help articles about CLEW tools, how to use them and frequently asked questions are accessible from the CLEW Help website - http://www.uwindsor.ca/clew
If you don’t see a workshop that addresses your learning needs; if you would like to book a Personal Consultation at a time other than those available here; of if you would like to have a sample CLEW site to practice in (Sandbox site), please send an email to clew@uwindsor.ca with your request and include your UWin ID.

Lessons and Resources
For example, you may create a module, unit, chapter, or lecture, for each week. A large majority of instructors organize their modules in weeks, adding lecture notes, activities, links, and resources that relate to that week's topic as 'sections' of the week's module. This allows them to guide learners through the sequence of content/tasks in an organized manner.
A module consists of one module page AND one or more content sections, depending on how you want to organize your information. Module pages are like the title page of a document -- on a module page you assign a title, add a description and keywords, if desired, and set the open and close dates the module is available.
Linking to documents or links in the Resources tool is also an option in Lessons, and that will also be discussed in this workshop.

2.7 Wiki Beta-Team Training
Why become a beta tester?
Why not? Join us at the frontlines. Get a sneak peak. Learn a thing or two about what goes on behind the scenes of the largest social network on campus. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet and interact with other University of Windsor students and staff with whom we dont get the opportunity to spend time. Plus, youll be part of the team that reaches the hearts ok, the desktops of almost every student on campus.
What needs to be done?
The Wiki Help Documentation System needs to be reviewed for accuracy. Beta testers will attend a training session. You will then be assigned specific pages to review, and will:
- note changes with screen captures before upgrade/after upgrade;
- update documentation in a priority sequence;
- report established outlining changes;
- note and prioritize new videos;
- and provide overall feedback.
Whats in it for you?
Other than a warm, fuzzy feeling in your heart, youll receive a certificate of completion suitable for hanging if you complete your assigned tasks, and if you do a good job, a job reference.

Interactivity: Polls, Forums and Wiki
Students or site participants can cast votes and then see the results statistically using the Polls tool. Forums is a "group-friendly" tool for establishing conversations for your entire CLEW site or for members of a specific sub-section of your class. Forums enables replies to an original posting or a response to other participants' messages. If they wish to, instructors can then grade the responses and post into the Gradebook tool.
A Wiki is a tool for people with limited technical knowledge to change and create web pages. Wiki was designed specifically for researchers and lecturers to collaborate on documents, share information and create teaching materials.
Topics covered in this workshop include:
• discussing effective interaction in classes,
• creating and viewing the results of a poll,
• creating a Forum and embedding a Topic within the Forum,
• reviewing some options available in Forums including new upgrade features,
• posting a reply to the Topic in the Forum,
• creating a Wiki page which includes a heading, list, table and links, and
• viewing your efforts as a student.

Introduction to CLEW Lesson Builder and Quizzes & Tests II
Effective Fall 2013, CLEW offers instructors two tools that will help with managing online assessments and lessons. Lesson Builder provides features to create modules which can include resources, text and multi-media. Instructors can also link to existing tools such as Assignments or Forums, or sub-pages within Lesson Builder. Additionally, students can create their own pages when the feature is selected.
Quizzes & Tests II enables instructors to create their own quizzes and tests which can be divided into multiple Sections. Questions can be created within those sections, which can be randomly ordered, or appear in the order that they were created. Choices within a question can be randomly ordered; or by using the Order option, can be positioned with a specified order. Grades from a completed Quiz can be exported to Gradebook.
Participants in this workshop should have attended a CLEW Basics class recently, or are already extensive users of multiple features in CLEW to receive the most benefit from the workshop.
