Dr. Phebe Lam is a clinical and educational psychologist with over 23 years of post-secondary experience at the University of Windsor, Wayne State University, Marygrove College, and Madonna University. Throughout her career she has worked to dismantle barriers and develop culturally sensitive processes. She began her career in Michigan in 2000, as a psychologist, clinical researcher and professor at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Wayne State University’s School of Medicine and College of Education. Her work focused on health behavioural change and chronic illness (ex., HIV, asthma), Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, and grief, loss, and trauma.

Phebe joined The University of Windsor in 2015 as a FAHSS Learning Specialist creating and implementing 20 student support, transition, retention, and engagement programs. She is a passionate and innovative educator, teaching at the post-secondary level, undergraduate, graduate, as well as medical students and residents. Most notable is her teaching contribution to the Mentorship and Leadership Program in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (FAHSS) at UWindsor. This course is an intensive exploration of the theory and practice of learning and leadership, which includes an experiential learning component where upper year students are embedded in first-year courses and mentor first year students through classroom interaction activities.

From 2021 to 2023, Dr. Lam successfully brought her expertise to the Office of Student Experience as the Acting Associate Vice-President Student Experience. As a racialized female she takes her EDI&D commitment personally and has dedicated her professional life to ensuring that all individuals are afforded inclusive opportunities to thrive. Phebe focuses on positivity, kindness, and compassion and her professional and personal experiences have made her an important driver of student satisfaction and a crucial element of the University’s success. Phebe participated in the Early Career Faculty Mentoring Program from 2019-2021, working with Dr. Mogyorody and Dr. Kustra as her mentors, and is looking forward to contributing as a Mentor this academic year.
